Grilled cheese with smoked ham and sweet pepper jam

Ingredients
- 8 slices of crusty bread
- 120 g (4 oz.) of Swiss cheese, sliced
- 12 slices of duBreton Sliced Smoked Ham
- 250 mL (1 cup) of baby spinach or arugula
Sweet pepper jam:
- 15 mL (1 tbsp.) of butter
- 250 mL (1 cup) of red pepper, diced
- 30 mL (2 tbsp.) of white wine vinegar
- 30 mL (2 tbsp.) of honey or maple syrup
- Salt and fresh ground pepper
Preparations
- In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat and then brown the red pepper for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Deglaze with the vinegar, add the sugar and season. Continue cooking for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Spread the sweet pepper jam on 4 of the bread slices and garnish with the Swiss cheese, ham and spinach or arugula.
- Top the sandwiches with the remaining bread slices.
- Butter the outside of each sandwich and brown in a pan over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
- Slice each sandwich in two and serve with salad or soup.
